Rustic Cheese Bar
Our Rustic Cheese Bar is perfect for any DIY wedding, marquee, village hall or barn! We guarantee to satisfy any cheese lover – our cheeses are all locally sourced and homemade by independent farmers. The cheeses we carefully select continue to win awards every year and they are perfect for making your event an affair to remember. If you’re looking for something unique on your wedding day then an Artisan Cheese Bar is the way to go. We can also take special requests for added extras like pork pies, salami and other cold meats.
The most popular cheese bar includes ‘The King of English Cheeses’, Stilton, along with Brie, Cornish Yarg, Rosary Goat’s Cheese from the New Forest, Tunworth, Hereford Hop Cheddar and the Gold award-winning Barkham Blue.
The Cheese Bar is fully loaded with seasonal chutneys, grapes, figs, cranberries and French stick. We can make it bespoke to suit all individual tastes or requirements.
Stilton topped with fig and black grapes
Stilton – rightfully known as the ‘King of English Cheeses’ – is smooth and creamy with complex, with a slightly acidic flavour when young. As it matures so the texture becomes softer and creamier with a mellow flavour. It makes an excellent dessert cheese and very popular with fellow cheese lovers.
Deliciously creamy under the rind and slightly crumbly in the core, Cornish Yarg is made by hand in open vats and boasts a young, fresh, slightly tangy taste. Local wild nettle leaves are carefully brushed on to the cheese, giving it the unique, lattice covering of blue and green which also help the cheese ripen and develop its delicate mushroomy palate.
Rosary Goats Cheese, New Forest
A fresh, full fat pasteurised Goats Cheese, Rosary is clean, soft cheese with a smooth, delicate goat milk flavour. Chris & Claire Moody have been making goat’s cheese for 18 years at their dairy in the small village of Lanford on the edge of the New Forest. The name Rosary is taken from their family home where Chris’ grandmother planted a picturesque rose garden.
Old Harry Chalke Valley Cheese – Dorset
A handmade, hard farmhouse cheese with a natural rind, Old Harry is matured for around 3-4 months and has a wonderful creamy texture and a rich, nutty tang. The taste is medium in strength, with the depth of flavour coming more from the unpasteurised milk and natural rind.
Topped with fresh cranberries, this is one for the cheese connoisseurs! The Sharpham Dairy is based on the Sharpham Estate on the banks of the River Dart, just south of Totnes in Devon. Their Brie is a creamy, unpasteurised, soft ripened cheese which has been handmade in their creamery since 1980. Salt, starter cultures and vegetarian rennet are the only additions to fresh Jersey cow milk.
Cheese Wedding Cakes
In keeping with your rustic cheese bar, Happily Ever Afters also offers your own wedding cake made entirely of cheese! A cheese wedding cake is a delicious alternative to traditional fruit cake. The cheese wedding cake can be cut in the traditional way and then provides a fantastic cheese course for your wedding guests or as a centrepiece for your evening buffet. A cheese wedding cake makes an eye-catching addition to your wedding day for those looking for something different whilst not over-stretching the budget.
Currently very popular at a lot of modern weddings, they also offer your guests a great way to grab a bite to eat throughout the reception. As well creamy Brie, tangy Stilton or crumbly homemade Cheddar, our cakes also include chutneys, seasonal fruit and French stick.
